keyboard_arrow_downThe short rack at 230 mm suits a Chinese hand, which is compact and stays concealed. The long one at 450 mm is American length, where exposed melds sit alongside the concealed tiles and need the room.
Buying the wrong length is the single most common mistake with racks, and it is only avoidable when the dimensions are published. These are, which is worth more than any other feature here.
Acrylic photographs better and wood works better, for one reason: friction. A tile in a wooden groove stays where it is put. On polished acrylic, a nudge to the table moves the whole hand forward.
Wood is also quieter, which matters over three hours far more than it seems in a shop.
Read that number on the long rack. Five millimetres is a shallow groove, which suits thinner tiles and will let a thick 20 mm deep tile sit high and unstable.
Measure the depth of your tiles, not just the height, before ordering.
Wood moves with humidity. A rack stored somewhere damp may bow slightly, and a bowed rack does not sit flat. Keep them somewhere a book would be comfortable, and never store them wet.
