Description
keyboard_arrow_downA standard American tile runs around 30 mm tall. These are 36. Six millimetres sounds like nothing written down and is obvious in the hand: the face carries more space around each character, the corner number sits clear of the engraving, and the wall reads from the opposite side of a four seat table without anyone leaning in.
The people who ask for oversized tiles are rarely beginners. They are players who have been at it for years, whose eyes have changed, and who would rather buy a bigger tile than hold the game up.
The production order matters. Printing colour onto a finished tile puts the marking on the surface, where handling wears it. Cutting the character first and laying the colour into the cut puts the marking below the surface, where handling cannot reach it. This set is made the second way, and it is the reason a set like this outlives its owner rather than its decade.
Ivory is traditional. It is also the colour of most table cloths, most dining tables under a warm bulb, and most of the light a game is played in. A soft jade holds its edge against all of that.
The colour runs through the acrylic rather than sitting on it, so an edge that takes a knock stays green.
This is a tile set. No racks, no case, no chips. That is the right purchase in two situations: you are replacing tiles in a set whose racks and case are still good, or you already own racks you like and want tiles that match the table rather than the factory.
If you are buying a first set, look for one that arrives with racks and a case instead. Assembling a table piece by piece costs more and rarely matches.
Barely damp cloth, no solvent. Acrylic marks more easily than melamine, so store the tiles in a case rather than loose. Out of direct sun.

Experience the timeless joy of Mahjong with beautifully crafted sets designed for both play and display.
Whether you’re hosting a casual game night or learning the game for the first time, our collections bring together strategy, fun, and a premium aesthetic that makes every session feel special.
At the beginning of the game, all Mahjong tiles are shuffled face down on the table. Each player then stacks their tiles into a wall. Once the walls are connected together, every player draws their starting hand of tiles.
Players take turns drawing one tile and discarding another. The goal is to slowly build the perfect combination of sequences, pairs, and matching sets while paying attention to the tiles discarded by opponents.
Win the game by completing a full Mahjong hand before the other players. Strategy, observation, and timing are key — every decision can change the outcome of the game and make each round exciting and unique.
More than just a board game, each Mahjong set is a true collector’s piece. From elegant tiles to unique designs and premium finishes, every detail is made to stand out.
Build your own collection, showcase your favorite sets at home, and enjoy products that combine entertainment with beautiful décor.

Quality shows in how the marking is made rather than in what the set is called. On these tiles the character is cut into the acrylic and the colour laid into the cut, so handling cannot wear it away, and the jade tone runs through the full 13 mm thickness instead of sitting on the face. Size counts too: at 36 x 26 mm the wall reads from the opposite side of a four seat table. Check those two things before anything else.
The top of the market is collectors' territory: pre war bone and bamboo, early Bakelite, hand carved sets whose value sits in their age rather than in their play. Those are fragile and rarely brought to a weekly table. This is a different category, modern acrylic at 36 x 26 x 13 mm, engraved and then hand painted, made to be shuffled several thousand times a year instead of displayed behind glass.
Three things drive the cost. The American count carries more tiles than the Chinese game, so there is more material in the box, 2.5 kg of it here. Engraving each face and then hand painting the cut is far slower than printing on a finished tile. And an oversized tile at 36 mm uses more acrylic per piece than a standard 30 mm one. None of that is decoration, it is what keeps a set legible for decades of play.
Buy wherever the listing states the things that decide whether the tiles will suit you: dimensions in millimetres, whether the marking is engraved or printed, and what is in the box. This page gives 36 x 26 x 13 mm, acrylic through the body, engraved then hand painted, tiles only with no racks or case. A listing that will not commit to those numbers is a listing that cannot tell you what will arrive.
