Description
keyboard_arrow_downA standard American tile is around 30 mm tall. These are 31.5, and the extra millimetre and a half is not a rounding error in a factory spec. It is space on the face: more room around the character, a corner numeral that sits clear of the engraving, and a tile that reads from the opposite side of a four seat table.
The depth is the other number worth reading. At 16 mm the tile has enough base to stand square in a rack. Thinner tiles lean, and a leaning wall is a wall that falls.
Traditional ivory has one weakness that nobody mentions when selling it: most tables are pale, most cloths are pale, and most mahjong is played under a warm bulb in the evening. Ivory on cream, at the far end of a table, at ten at night, is harder work than it should be.
A saturated green solves that without turning the set into a novelty. It reads as a choice of material rather than a gimmick.
The tile is built from stacked layers rather than moulded whole. That is where the depth in the colour comes from when you hold it up, and it is why a chipped corner shows green rather than white. Structural colour survives handling in a way surface colour does not.
Enough jokers for the current National Mah Jongg League card, with blanks held back as spares. If you are comparing sets, the number to compare is not the headline count but the joker count inside it.
A barely damp cloth. Store them in a case, not loose in a drawer, because acrylic picks up scratches from keys and coins faster than melamine does. Keep them out of direct sun.
A player who has decided ivory is not for them, and who would rather have a tile slightly larger than standard than slightly smaller. It suits a table that stays out.

Experience the timeless joy of Mahjong with beautifully crafted sets designed for both play and display.
Whether you’re hosting a casual game night or learning the game for the first time, our collections bring together strategy, fun, and a premium aesthetic that makes every session feel special.
At the beginning of the game, all Mahjong tiles are shuffled face down on the table. Each player then stacks their tiles into a wall. Once the walls are connected together, every player draws their starting hand of tiles.
Players take turns drawing one tile and discarding another. The goal is to slowly build the perfect combination of sequences, pairs, and matching sets while paying attention to the tiles discarded by opponents.
Win the game by completing a full Mahjong hand before the other players. Strategy, observation, and timing are key — every decision can change the outcome of the game and make each round exciting and unique.
More than just a board game, each Mahjong set is a true collector’s piece. From elegant tiles to unique designs and premium finishes, every detail is made to stand out.
