A 160 tile American set is 108 suit tiles, 16 winds, 12 dragons, 8 flowers, 10 jokers and 6 blanks. Change the joker count and the set plays a different game; change the blanks and it stops being repairable.
This set carries the composition in full, which is worth confirming rather than assuming on any American set under a hundred dollars.
Colour ranges usually exist for the photograph. Here there is a practical use. Mahjong is a social game played in rotation between houses, and sets get mixed: a tile lands in the wrong bag and stays there for a year.
Where several people in a group own equipment, colour is the only reliable way to sort it out. A group that coordinates deliberately, one colour each, never has the problem at all.
