keyboard_arrow_downMost bags sold as mahjong bags are handbags with a mahjong name attached. This one is the other kind: a bag whose dimensions were decided by what a tile set actually is.
That difference shows in one number, the depth. A tile set is a thick object, and a bag designed around a phone and a wallet cannot take it regardless of how wide it is.
Tiles themselves shrug off water. What does not is a wooden box, a leather rack, a cardboard tray or a paper score pad, all of which travel in the same bag.
A waterproof outer means a walk from a car in the rain does not end with a set drying on a radiator, which is how wooden components warp.
Three hundred grams empty. A leather bag of the same capacity starts at a kilo, and when the contents are already two or three kilos of tiles, the bag's own weight is a third of the problem.
Large enough for tiles, racks and the small pieces together. Keeping the whole set in one bag is the single habit that stops sets becoming incomplete, so capacity here is not about convenience but about the set surviving.
Wipe clean, air it out after a wet trip rather than storing it damp. Do not machine wash, which strips the waterproof treatment.
