    • A patented random shuffle, which is what keeps the deal genuinely unpredictable rather than merely mixed.
    • Compact enough for a flat, where most automatic tables assume a dedicated room.

Random, and why it is a specification

An automatic table has to do more than move tiles. It has to mix them in a way that cannot be anticipated, because a machine that builds walls in a predictable pattern gives an advantage to whoever notices first.

A patented random mechanism is a claim worth having on a machine, and it is the difference between shuffling and merely rearranging.

    Compact

Most automatic tables are sized for a dedicated room and weigh what furniture weighs. At 13.5 kg this one is in a different category: it can be moved by one person, stored between sessions, and lived with in a flat.

The compromise is table area. Compact means less room around each seat, so racks, chips and glasses compete for space. Worth knowing before ordering.

    Three plug standards

Small detail, large annoyance. Automatic tables are mains powered, and a machine arriving with the wrong plug means an adapter permanently trailing from an appliance that is meant to look like furniture. Buying the right standard avoids it.

    Lacquerware

The finish is lacquered rather than moulded plastic, which is why it can sit in a living room. It is also less forgiving: lacquer marks where plastic would shrug, so coasters are not optional.

    Before ordering

Confirm what tile size the machine accepts and whether tiles are included. This is the single most common source of disappointment with automatic tables.

    Care

Dust the trays. Do not force a jam. Wipe the lacquer with a dry or barely damp cloth only.

    How to play Mahjong ?

     Image

Step 1 — Build the Wall

At the beginning of the game, all Mahjong tiles are shuffled face down on the table. Each player then stacks their tiles into a wall. Once the walls are connected together, every player draws their starting hand of tiles.

    Step 2 — Draw & Discard

Players take turns drawing one tile and discarding another. The goal is to slowly build the perfect combination of sequences, pairs, and matching sets while paying attention to the tiles discarded by opponents.

Step 3 — Complete Your Winning Hand

Win the game by completing a full Mahjong hand before the other players. Strategy, observation, and timing are key — every decision can change the outcome of the game and make each round exciting and unique.

    A Set Worth Collecting

More than just a board game, each Mahjong set is a true collector’s piece. From elegant tiles to unique designs and premium finishes, every detail is made to stand out.

Build your own collection, showcase your favorite sets at home, and enjoy products that combine entertainment with beautiful décor.

    Frequently asked questions

What size folding table is best for mahjong?

    keyboard_arrow_down

Four seats need enough width for a rack, chips and a glass in front of each player, which is exactly where a card table falls short. Measure the space first, then check the height against your chairs, since height ruins a game faster than width does. This one is a compact automatic rather than a folding table, at 13.5 kg, so it trades some elbow room for a footprint a flat can live with.

Why are mahjong tables so expensive?

    keyboard_arrow_down

Because two products sit inside one body. The shuffle here is a patented random mechanism rather than a paddle that pushes tiles about, and the tolerance needed to raise an even wall thousands of times is what costs money. The finish is lacquerware, which is slower to apply than moulded plastic. Offering EU, US and UK versions adds tooling too, though it saves the buyer a trailing adapter.

Why do so many Jews play mahjong?

    keyboard_arrow_down

The game arrived in the United States in the 1920s and became a fixture of Jewish American social life, often as a standing weekly game among women. That habit passed down through families, and the National Mah Jongg League has published the annual card the American game is played from since the 1930s. It is a living tradition rather than a historical footnote, which is why American play still differs from Chinese play.

Is the Costco mahjong set good?

    keyboard_arrow_down

Set names matter less than what is in the box, and on an automatic table there is a further condition. These machines grip tiles magnetically and are cut for a specific tile height, so a set bought off a shelf is often not picked up at all. Confirm the tile size a table accepts before buying tiles for it. For hand play, judge a set on its tile count, its jokers and whether spare blanks are included.
